Gospel: Lk 8:1-3 “Jesus sets us free” The gospel describes the people who journeyed with Jesus. Those who were freed from evil. This shows us that following and journeying with Christ is the true freedom. We are invited to seek this true freedom and start journeying with Jesus. Mother Mary, may you teach and show us the beauty of following and journeying with Jesus. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 15:1–32 Mercy beyond compare Each of us in some way or at some point in time becomes lost. Today's Gospel shows that God never gives up looking for us; no matter how far we go away from Him like a lost sheep, He gently seeks for us and brings us back to himself. God's mercy for us is beyond compare that He overlooks our faults and failures. Let us ask for the grace to be merciful that we may also give mercy to those who are lost. #PrayVD

Gospel: John 3:13–17 For God so loved the world It was because of love, the love of the Father to us that he gave his only Son for our ransom, so we may live, so we may be restored to life. How are we in our following of Jesus? Are we enjoying life and salvation in Him? The Lord has not condemned the world even if people have disobeyed and displeased Him very much. He has come to save us. God’s mercy is enough and it is not of human standards but of God’s. Today let us have the grace of bringing love and salvation in our families, in our circle of friends, and in our communities. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 6:39–42 You will see clearly enough. Today's Gospel is a warning to those who judge others without bothering to look deeply into themselves. A disciple who has not learned enough to see his own faults and yet presumes to judge others is not in any position to teach. Jesus is not telling us to just ignore the faults of others but reminding us of our duty to correct the fault of others with great care and caution. He is also inviting us to examine ourselves first on the faults that we commit and be humble on accepting them. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 6:27–38 Do good to those who hate you. The enemies Jesus referred to in today’s Gospel are not the people that we don't like, not just the ones who are offensive and annoying. He is talking about people who hate us, who are ready to hurt us, and who wish us evil. We should love these people without expecting anything in return because God loves them as He loves us. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us to find the grace that we need to love and forgive those who have wronged us. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 6:20–26 Blessed are the poor The poor whom Jesus calls blessed in today's Gospel are those who had come to realize that they cannot depend on the things of this world for happiness. They are those who seek happiness in God alone. We should empty ourselves to make way for God in our lives. Jesus invites us today to be blessed in seeking God alone. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 6:12–19 Chosen by God Today’s Gospel is about being chosen by God. Jesus chooses the Twelve but first he goes up to a mountain to pray. He spent an entire night in prayer. As they were called, we too are called to carry out a mission – the same mission that Jesus received from the Father. Despite our betrayals, hurtful attacks and unworthiness He still chooses us. It is Him who made us worthy of our following. #PrayVD September 9, 2019 Monday
Gospel: Luke 6:6–11 To save life or to destroy it? In today's Gospel, the society attempts to impose its own standards more than considering the needs of the people with the Pharisees caring more on finding fault on Jesus. Jesus invites us to have faith and trust that are not based on law or any sort of principle, but based on knowing the person of Jesus Christ and letting our experience of the love of God form us. As the law was only given as a guideline to help show love to God and one another. #PrayVD September 8, 2019 Sunday
Gospel: Luke 14:25-33 “Following does not come without cost” “None of you may become my disciple, if he doesn’t give up everything he has.” We play many roles - a parent, spouse, sibling to brothers and sisters, a friend to so many including our virtual connections. We may be easily distracted by the demands of our various relationships. The key here is setting our priorities. Nothing in the “followers” lives must take precedence over one’s commitment and relationship with God . “Jesus said, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37-38 this is the first and greatest commandment. Remember the Rich young man? If one is forced to make an either-or choice between anything on earth and God, loyalty to God must prevail, even if it comes to the extreme of having to give up relationship who stand between you and Christ or all of one’s material possessions. Holy Trinity guide us in our daily option. Help us to Choose Jesus first at all times! Amen! September 7, 2019 Saturday
Gospel: Luke 6:1-5 “Going against the grain” How do people react when you start “doing things differently”? Counter-cultural will never be met with applause. Even powerfully shared by the Prophets and Saints, in most cases it cost their lives. Even Jesus kind of love is met with rejection. Who says following Jesus is easy? 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” #PrayVD |
