Gospel - Mt 14:1-12
Choose to be a blessing!
Are you good at sports, or music . . . or perhaps you're good with numbers? God has given us talents for us to be a blessing for others and somehow reflect his goodness.
Sadly, in today's Gospel we see that what was given to bless can also be used to hurt and destroy. A young woman had the gift of dancing, but she used it to eliminate John the Baptist, under the advice of her mother Herodias.
When we look at ourselves we can see the many blessings we have received from God. But, are we being a blessing for others?
Unlike Herodias, Mary is a good Mother who can advise us how to use our talents in order to bless and reflect God’s goodness to this world. Let us do whatever she tells us. Amen.
