In the Father’s house
Mary and Joseph’s experience in today’s gospel could be our own. We sometimes lose sight of Jesus and when we recognize this, we tremble and try to look for him. Jesus knows we can experience the same and so he tells us now where to exactly find Him.
“Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
The Father’s house is more than just a physical structure. It is the Eucharist; also the Word of God that Jesus was praying about and listening to when he was found in the temple. Sometimes, our hearts seem hard to recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread and grasp him through the Word of God. In those moments, we can ask our Mother to give us her immaculate heart so we can always encounter Jesus in the Father’s house – pondering, always trusting, treasuring everything even if many times she could not understand.
