Gospel: Luke 1:46–56 “My spirit rejoices in God my savior” (cf. Luke 1:47) Words may not suffice to glorify the greatness of God yet Mary joyfully magnified the works of God to her life in her song of praise – the Magnificat. Today, Mary inspires us to express our gratitude to the graces that God has given us. May we also have that same joyful heart she has as we celebrate this Christmas season. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 1:39–45 Joyfully Blessed Mary believed to the promise of God and this fulfilled belief blessed her with a newfound joy in the coming of Jesus in her life. This as well, blessed Elizabeth causing the baby in her womb to leap for joy. We find ourselves joyful when things that we pray and believe were fulfilled by God and this joy found may also bless the people around us when we share it to them. This Christmas season, may we also bless the life of others as we receive the joy of the coming of Jesus in our lives. #PrayVD

Gospel Luke 1:26-38 The Holy Spirit will come upon you, In the Gospel the angel Gabriel talked to Mary to tell her that she will bear a son. Mary doubted because she didn't know how it will be done. But the angel said to her "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you." Sometimes God uses us to fulfill something good especially in times of crisis. The Covid-19 pandemic is still there as well as disasters like typhoons. God is asking us to help our brothers and sisters who need help. Sometimes we question ourselves if we can do that or not because we know our limitation. But if we believe in God we can do anything. So don't hesitate to say yes to our Lord God. Mother Mary help us to be like you to say yes to our Lord God. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel – Luke 1:5-25 Your prayer has been heard. In the Gospel God heard the prayer of Zechariah. God sent the angel Gabriel to tell him that his prayer was heard and it will be fulfilled. But Zechariah didn't believe at first that's why he became blind and mute until his wife give birth. Prayer is one way to communicate with God. He always listens in our prayers. That's why sometimes He sends someone to help fulfill our prayer. But we need to be patient because sometimes we need to wait for the answer. We should believe in our prayers because God hears our prayer wherever we are because God is with us. Lord thank you for listening to each one of us. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel – Matthew 1:18-25 "Do not be afraid " In the Gospel Joseph was afraid what people think about him and Mary. He wanted to divorce his wife quietly because Mary was pregnant and he knew that he was not the father. But the angel of of the Lord appeared to him in his dream and said 'do not be afraid to take Mary your wife.' The fear is always there to weaken our faith. We are afraid to lose everything. We are afraid to become alone or to become poor. We are afraid to be judged by other people. And because of that sometimes we forget what God can do for us. We should remember that He sent His son Jesus to save us for our sins. And He was named "Immanuel" meaning "God with us". Until now He never forgets His promise that He will never leave us. Oh lord thank you for always there specially in our darkest hour in our life. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel Matthew 1:1-17 "Roll of the genealogy" The sum of generations From Abraham to Jesus are fourteen from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to the Babylonian deportation; and fourteen from the Babylonian deportation to Christ. Do we know the history of our family or where our ancestors came from? Some of us may not know the history of our ancestors but what's important is that we know that we are from God. We should not forget our history because we can learn from their experience. In a similar way, reading the Bible helps us understand more our origin and how we can improve ourselves more. Lord thank you for your everlasting love. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 7:18-23 Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another? In the Gospel, John sent his two disciples to Jesus. When the disciples met Jesus they asked, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?" Jesus replied, "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard". Like the two disciples we saw, heard and read what Jesus did. But sometimes the doubt is still there because before we believe in Him we want to experience His blessings and miracles. Sometimes we test God by asking for signs. In the last part of the Gospel Jesus said, "Blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.” If we believe in Him wholeheartedly we will be saved. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mt 21: 28-32 "My boy, go and work in the vineyard today." God is always inviting us to work for him. But it depends on us if we accept it or not. The truth is working for God is not easy because we should sacrifice some of our time and strength. But God assures us that if we accept his invitation we have a place in his kingdom. Like the tax collectors and prostitutes who are making their way to the kingdom of God because they believed in Him through John the Baptist. Oh Lord God give us encouragement and strength so we may say yes to your invitation and to work for your kingdom. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel Matthew 21:23-27 Who gave you this authority? In this Gospel the chief priests and the elders of the people asked Jesus 'What authority have you for acting like this? And who gave you this authority?' In reply Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; if you tell me the answer to it, then I will tell you my authority for acting like this. John's baptism: what was its origin, heavenly or human? In the end they did not answer. Sometimes we asked ourselves why do we do these things? Like helping, giving, caring and etc. Maybe because these are we want to do or maybe this is our mission? We doubt ourselves because we worry about what other people think of us. But still let us not hesitate to do good for others despite the circumstances. #PrayVD

Gospel: John 1:68, 19–28 "He came to testify to the light." (cf. John 1:8) Today, as we celebrate this joyous Sunday of Advent, the Gospel inspires us with the greatness of the life of John the Baptist and how he faithfully testified to the light. Such faith when received from God removes all the fears of today leading only towards joyful service. May we be like John the Baptist who faithfully testified to the light in spite of persecutions. #PrayVD |
