Message from our President for our Feast of the Annunciation

Dear Verbum Dei Missionary Family,

On the 3rd of March, 1963, in spiritual exercises to the then "Parish Missionaries," in preparation for the Feast of the Annunciation, Jaime said to them:
"We have already chosen our vocation so we should be just like Mary, offering ourselves fully with a totally convinced 'FIAT' to the disposal of the Father, of the Son & of the Holy Spirit."

Fiat meaning Yes here I am, I am available for you.
"May it be done unto me according to your Word." Jaime wanted the Annunciation to be our feastday, so that we might learn from Mary how to say a constant yes to God with a total availability to his Word.
To be "Verbum Dei" means that we want to make the Word alive in our life, so that the Word might become flesh in us: Our vocation is to be "doubles of Christ", as Jaime said to the missionaries.

Today, that invitation is more urgent than ever: our world needs a Love with the quality of the love of Christ, that doesn't give in to violence, that breaks down barriers, that overcomes hate. Making the Word life in us, we will be capable of discovering the seeds and springs of love and hope that are there, growing, even though evil might make more noise.

On this 25th of March, we unite ourselves in prayer so that we might learn from Mary, the perfect disciple of Christ, to follow Jesus closer, as closely as possible, and that like Her we might be channels of grace,  bridges between the people and Christ. And that in the middle of so many "no's" to Love, each one of us might be a YES to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, in order that their project of Love might continue to be realised in the world.
