Cebu City - "I Will Be The Voice that Speaks Your Word". This was the theme of last Sunday's event for the definitive promises of Aida Carpela, a lay consecrated missionary.
The promises were done during the celebration of the mass which was witnessed by the whole family, not only from Cebu, but from the members of the Verbum Dei family from the other communities here in the Philippines and from other countries as well. Among those who witnessed was no other than our president, Lucia Herrerias, who formally accepted her promises representing the whole Family. Fr. James McTavish and Fr. Vincent "Bong" Guinoo officiated the mass.
After the mass was a simple "salu-salo" where the Verbum Dei family, including Aida's own family, friends and relatives, had a moment to share and be one in celebrating this joyous occasion. Afterwards, a short program was done where members of the family from the different realities, did various presentations (songs, dances, skits, etc.).
It was indeed a great experience of celebration for the 'yes' of our dear sister, her yes that echoes not only here in Cebu, but to where God leads her: to many more who needs God's Word.
