Prayer Buddies - 2/17/2018

"And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed him."'(Luke 5:28)

This is an indication of Luke's theme of complete detachment from material possessions. We don't need any material things to follow Jesus. We just have to trust in the Lord for whatever plan He is about to bestow upon us.

Prayer Buddies - 2/15/2018

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our own weakness. (Romans 8:26-27)

All of us are weak, which is why we need to pray. God doesn't condemn us for being weak. Rather, He sends His spirit to help us in our weakness. God encourages us with the truth that the Holy Spirit tenderly takes our prayers and directs them according to God's will.

Prayer Buddies - 2/12/2018

"My brethren, consider it a great joy when trials of many kinds come upon you; for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance"
(1James 1:2-3)

Life has daily trials that test our faith. God invites us to live them with great joy. Joy is not a naive happiness but is contentment in Christ above all else. It is to be rooted in Christ, not depending on our own efforts or strength.
