Gospel: Mark 8: 11-13 I am the way and the truth and the life (Jn 14:6) Jesus asks us strongly today, “Why does this generation seek a sign?” Do we wait for signs around us before doing something? Jesus abandons these signs we ask from him because He invites us to depend on Him as the way, the truth and the life, the true source of the sign that we seek in our lives. Mother Mary, we pray to be mindful of where to depend the desires of our hearts. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 6:17, 20-26 "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven." (cf. Lk 6:23) We always hear Jesus praising and blessing the least of all the people. And it is with their rich faith and righteous lives that He is touched the most. A person's life is being tested through tough and down times. It is also through these times that his faith is being enriched by choosing to take the righteous way. Jesus, in today's Gospel, assured those who live faithfully and righteously with heavenly reward. May we live our lives rich in faith and righteous in our ways because of love for God and eventually enjoy God's great rewards in heaven. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mark 8:1-10 "I have compassion for these people." (cf. Mk 8:2) The divine providence of the Father prevailed in today's Gospel, enabling Jesus and His disciples to feed thousands of people in a deserted place. It is through Jesus that we have witnessed and experienced the compassion of our Heavenly Father. And it is through His miracles that He has shown the divine providence of the Father in times of need. May we also be trustful and faithful to our Heavenly Father as how Jesus has taught and shown us. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 15, 2019February 15, 2019 – Friday
Gospel: Mark 7:31-37 "Ephphatha! Be opened!" (cf. Mk 7:34) In today's Gospel, Jesus healed a deaf man who also had difficulty in speaking, by saying just one word, "Ephphatha!" that is, "Be opened!" Today's Gospel reminds us the need to be open in order to be healed calling us also to open our hearts letting the Word of God instill its grace upon us. May we be like the deaf man in the Gospel who opened himself to Jesus and has been healed by the grace of His Word. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 14, 2019February 14, 2019 - Thursday
Gospel: Mark 7:24-30 "You may go your way." (cf. Mk 7:29) It is with such a faithful response that Jesus had known that a woman's way of life is holy. We have our tests of faith and it is in our responses that our ways of life is determined. Today's Gospel challenges us to respond through what is right in our faith in times it is being tested through trials of life. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us the way to righteousness through purifying our hearts. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 13, 2019February 13, 2019 – Wednesday
Gospel: Mark 7:14-23 "It is from within, out of a person's heart." (cf. Mk 7:21) What fills our hearts spills in our ways and gives meaning to our life. Jesus aims to enter in our hearts for us to live a righteous life and it is through letting Him in our hearts that gives us the true meaning of our life. May we enable ourselves to be filled by Jesus' love for our lives. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 12, 2019February 12, 2019 – Tuesday
Gospel: Mark 7:1-13 "But their hearts are far from me." (cf. Mk 7:6) In today's Gospel, Jesus was asked why His disciples are not following the tradition of washing hands first before meals. Traditions aren't wrong but sometimes it is in being superficial that halts us in following Jesus thus making our hearts far from Him. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us the way on how could we follow Jesus so our hearts won't be far away from Him. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 11, 2019February 11, 2019 – Monday
Gospel: Mark 6:53-56 "And all who touched Him were healed." (cf. Mk 6:56) Wherever Jesus is, healing happens and this is why people rush towards Him to at least touch His cloak - to touch Him. Today, as we solemnly celebrate the World Day of the Sick, we are reminded that the presence of Jesus is also the presence of healing in our lives. May our Blessed Mother who appeared in Lourdes, France help us acknowledge the presence of Jesus in our lives. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 10, 2019February 10, 2019 - Sunday
Gospel: Luke 5:1-11 “from now on you will be catching men” How humbling it was for Peter (a fisherman) to be told by Jesus (a carpenter) what to do. Yet this seems to be our tendency. How many times we too feel we know better and we find it hard to trust God. How long before we can really realize, God’s ways our not ours. Sometimes, even his call for our lives to be fishers’ of people, we don’t take seriously because we don’t think we are qualified. Maybe it’s time we listen well to what he’s asking us to do then maybe our world will be a better place. #PrayVD February 9, 2019 - Saturday
Gospel: Mark 6:30-34 “and he began to teach them many things.” In today’s gospel, the Apostles were recounting to Jesus all they did and it included telling him about what happened to John the Baptist and how they took his remains. Maybe this explains why Jesus wanted to be in a lonely place by themselves. How amazing though the way Jesus goes beyond this grief. When he saw the vast crowd, he was moved with compassion and taught them many things. It’s like Jesus telling us, no matter what we are going through, we have the capacity in us to go beyond ourselves and look around the vast crowd and care for those who are also in deep need. #PrayVD |
