Lk 9:57-62 “I will follow you wherever you go” Are we confident to say to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go”? The gospel describes what is the cost of following Jesus: to follow Jesus means to be deeply rooted into Him. To follow Jesus means that we should be able to leave everything behind. And we will be able to leave everything and follow Jesus if we fall in love with Him. Let the reason of our following be our love for him. Mama Mary, teach us how to love Jesus so that we may be able to follow Him completely #PrayVD

Jn 1:47-51 “Before I called you, I saw you under the fig tree” In the bible, a sprouting fig tree means the kingdom of God is near. Jesus said “Before I called you, I saw you under the fig tree”. It is a strong message of Jesus that He saw us already in His kingdom before everything else. But most of the time we walk away from the kingdom. In the gospel, Philip called Nathanael under the fig tree to come and see Jesus. The call for us is to be the Philip in this world of today and call our brothers and sisters to come to Jesus as He can see that they are in His kingdom. Holy Spirit, teach us to be like Philip so that we may fulfill the vision of God seeing us all in His kingdom. #PrayVD

Lk 9:46-50 “Do not prevent him” “Do not prevent him”, Jesus said, “For who is not against you is for you”. These words of Jesus calls us to reflect our actions towards others. We are unaware that we are preventing the other person on doing righteous things. It could be our anger or hatred to other person that prevents him to reconcile with you and with God. Maybe our being “closed door” attitude are preventing others on taking a step towards Jesus. We are invited to be more forgiving, understanding, and open to others and make a way for them to be with Jesus. Mama Mary, guide us as we open ourselves to others so that they may be able to walk with Jesus #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 21:28–32 "Which of the two did the will of his father?" (cf. Matthew 21:31) Today's Gospel speaks to us what it means to be faithful to God. It is one thing to speak about what you intend on doing with your faith, but it is another thing to actually follow God’s call and act on it. In this parable, Jesus raises the simple point of actively following God and taking more of an effort than just claiming to follow Him. Let us ask Mother Mary to help us be more faithful in following God's call. Amen #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:43b–45 "But they did not understand this saying." (cf. Luke 9:45) Today’s Gospel presents to us the second time that Jesus foretells His passion, death and resurrection. As the disciples did not understand the words of Jesus about His cross, they also had a hard time understanding that the Messiah would become a servant of his brothers. Sometimes we are like the disciples having a hard time in understanding the word of God but let these times be the moments of opening ourselves and trusting more to Jesus. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us to be open and trusting to Jesus with the things that we don't understand. Amen #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:18–22 "Who do you say that I am?" (cf. Luke 9:20) In today's Gospel, Jesus was praying and his disciples were there with Him. After a time, Jesus turned to his disciples and asked, “Who do the people say that I am?” They said in reply, “Some say you are John the Baptist. Others believe you are Elijah or one of the prophets who has arisen.” He then asked, “But who do you say that I am?” Today Jesus is asking each of us the same question, “Who do you say that I am?” In the same manner like the disciples, we are also invited to take the same moment of asking ourselves who is Jesus to us. Perhaps we can answer these questions based on our personal experience with Jesus as He also desires for us to have a personal relationship with Him wanting to be the center of our lives. Let us come to Mother Mary to help us open ourselves and allow Jesus to be the center of our lives so we can have that personal relationship with Him. Amen #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:7–9 "Who is this about whom I hear such things?" (cf. Luke 9:9) In today's Gospel, Herod wanted to know more about Jesus. Despite the fact that Jesus didn't do his miracles to impress people, the miracles were impressive. They were so impressive that Herod learned about them. He was curious. At times, we also have questions about Jesus. Today let us ask ourselves: who do we think Jesus is? Like Herod, are we trying to learn more about Jesus? Let us ask Mother Mary to help us know more of Jesus deeply and intimately. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:1–6 "Take nothing for your journey." (cf. Luke 9:3) The disciples then set off traveling from one village to another, proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere. If we truly desire to journey with Jesus, we also have to travel lightly. Some of us tend to over-pack rather than bringing minimal things. What is it that we truly need? What can we let go of? What is Jesus asking us to release or to leave behind? What do we no longer need? Today, let us ask Jesus teach us to travel with Him bringing only the essential that we need in the journey. May we also learn from Him how to let go of things that hinders us from following God's will. Amen #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 8:19–21 "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it." (cf. Luke 8:21) It is easier to hear the word of God than to act on it. And to act the words of Jesus, we are called to love every person we encounter, including those whom we may not like. Jesus calls us to stretch ourselves and act the same way that He did in the Gospel. He calls us to live His words each and every day. Let us ask Mother Mary to guide us in being always mindful of the way we see every person we encounter, that we may consider them each day as our brothers and sisters in faith. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 9:9–13 "For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners." (cf. Matthew 9:13) Today's Gospel narrates to us the call of Matthew. As Jesus saw Matthew while walking by his custom post, Jesus called him to follow and immediately he got up and followed Jesus. God's mercy for us is beyond compare that He overlooks our faults and failures. Despite our betrayals, hurtful attacks and unworthiness, He still chooses us. It is Him who made us worthy in our following. Let us ask Mother Mary to help us to see the urgency of the call of Jesus and guide us in responding with a joyful heart. Amen #PrayVD |
