Gospel: Mark 6:30-34
“and he began to teach them many things.”
In today’s gospel, the Apostles were recounting to Jesus all they did and it included telling him about what happened to John the Baptist and how they took his remains. Maybe this explains why Jesus wanted to be in a lonely place by themselves. How amazing though the way Jesus goes beyond this grief. When he saw the vast crowd, he was moved with compassion and taught them many things. It’s like Jesus telling us, no matter what we are going through, we have the capacity in us to go beyond ourselves and look around the vast crowd and care for those who are also in deep need.
