Gospel: Luke 16:19-31 "Let him warn them, so that they may not end up in this place of torment. " – Luke 16: 28 There are many modern day ‘Lazarus’ people that are being rejected and ignored until they die in misery. The gospel of today desires to break down the barrier that separates them in this life. The rich man was being condemned by ignoring Lazarus. Let us ask ourselves how do we encounter Lazarus in our way? Lazarus is our key to the kingdom of God. We are all rich in something. May God take away the things that hinder us from seeing and helping our brothers in need. May we be moved with compassion to help those modern day Lazarus at our doorsteps. Amen. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 20, 2019March 20, 2019 – Wednesday
Gospel: Matthew 20:17-28 "If you want to be the first of all, make yourself the servant of all." – Matthew 20:27 If we seek the greatness in God's kingdom we can find it by being last. In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to be others-oriented than being self-oriented by thinking first for others rather than for ourselves. As followers of Jesus, we must focus in helping and serving our brothers and sisters in Christ. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 19, 2019March 19, 2019 – Tuesday
Gospel: Matthew 1:16, 18-21,24a “He did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do.” – Matthew 1: 24 Today, we celebrate the solemnity of St. Joseph – Husband of Blessed Virgin Mary. He is a man of faithfulness, obediently trusting the will of the Lord. Very few people would have trust to accept the things that they don't understand. Like St. Joseph, we may not fully understand what God is doing in our lives but God asks us to obey and believe that He is with us. Amen. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 18, 2019March 18, 2019 – Monday
Gospel: Luke 6:36-38 "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." – Luke 6: 36 Mercy does not count what it gives or ask for something in return. And doing good deeds is a part of being merciful but in today's gospel, Jesus invites us to imitate the merciful Father by not judging, criticizing and condemning others. In this season of lent, may we learn to imitate and extend the mercy of our Father to our brothers and sisters not just by doing good deeds but also by understanding and forgiving those who've wronged us. Amen. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 17, 2019March 17,2019 - Sunday
Gospel: Luke 9:28-36 “This is my Son, my beloved . Listen to him” - Luke 29:35 Jesus took Peter, James and John up on the mountain to pray, and as he prayed, his appearance was changed - bathed in the presence of God! How awesome to be in his presence! Yes, He is ever present in our lives. He gave us Jesus that we may have life to the full! Let us turn to Jesus - come away and go up on a mountain and spend time alone in God in prayer. Let us listen to him. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 16, 2019March 16,2019 - Saturday
Gospel: Matthew 5:43-48 “Love your enemies;and pray for those who persecute you.”- Matthew 5:43 This is something we need to hear again and again. How are you up to in your mercy and forgiveness meter? Now is a good time to reflect and recall the people who may have hurt us . Not to make retribution, rather to pray for those who may have hurt us . As well as those people unknowingly we may have hurt. Pray for a renewed mind and heart this lent . #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 15, 2019March 15,2019 - Friday
Gospel: Matthew 5:20-26 “Make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.” -Matthew 5:24 “I like to honk my way through the traffic jams of life!” ANGER from Inside Out. Interesting how emotions can consume us if not controlled. Letting anger live inside us can certainly lead us to resentment, bitterness. Imagine these feelings grow inside us, but Jesus tells us otherwise. We are called to love and mercy. Unfortunately many lives had been lost out of anger which blocks us from love and God in our lives. Jesus teaches us this so that we may learn to forgive, humble ourselves and love as God has loved us first. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 14, 2019March 14,2019 - Thursday
Gospel: Matthew 7:7-12 “Ask, and you shall receive: seek, and you shall find. Knock, and the door will be opened .”- Matthew 7:7 God answers prayers and gives us what we need. He will not withhold, always looking at our best interest. During this lent, let us find time to PRAY and ask him what we need these 40 days to enable us to live out the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 13, 2019March 13,2019 - Wednesday
Gospel: Luke 11:29-32 “People of the present time are troubled people. They asked for a sign, but no sign will be given to them except the sign of Jonah” - Luke 11: 29 Sign, sign! Everywhere there’s a sign. Do this, don’t do that! Can’t you read the sign? Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He speaks to us through the WORD. We get access to Jesus when we seek his face daily, continually . Come! Let us draw near to him that we may have peace and rest. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 12, 2019March 12,2019 - Tuesday
Gospel: Matthew 6:7-15 “Your Father knows what you need, even before you ask him.” Matthew 6:8 “Give US today our daily bread.” Let us not be anxious of the future. We ask only for what we need today, for tomorrow is another day. But why pray for US - your family, neighbors, and community? Right, let us pray daily that every table has bread to eat each day. However, the reality is that many are hungry in the world and God will not drop manna from the skies! Clearly this reminds us of our accountability to one another - “feed my sheep.” Would you do this for Jesus? #PrayVD |
