Daily Guidelines: February 23, 2020

February 23, 2020  Sunday
Gospel: Matthew 5:38-48
“Offer no resistance to one who is evil. Be perfect.”

It is quite normal to hate someone who wronged us. Yet Jesus teaches us that perfect love is to be able to love the unlovable. Loving is made even more special when we make a conscious effort to forgive those who have hurt us and to pray for those who persecute us. It may be very difficult to do, but God assures us that through practice, we will be able to find inner peace. 

In fact, He loved us too, despite the times we offended Him. So we must give back His mercy by loving our offenders as well. Who knows? The mercy we give may save one lost soul.
