John 1:19-28 “The one who is to come, whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” Today's gospel is a reminder of what true humility is as shown in the life of John the Baptist. With all the great things done through him, he always remembers who he is in front of the One who made it possible. He recognized that He is weak and how the Lord brings power to his weakness. He focused not on what He can and cannot do but on what God can do through him. His life is a testimony of how great God is as he allows Him to shine His light to the world. Reflecting on John the Baptist's humility, may we be reminded by a quote by CS Lewis that says, "Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less." Holy Trinity, grant upon us the humility to accept that without you we can do nothing and you can do great things through us. We pray for openness to receive you in our hearts so you could guide us with your light and share your light to others. Amen. #PrayVD |
