Daily Guidelines: July 6, 2019

Gospel: Matthew 9:14-17

“Do not put new wine into old wineskins” – cf Matthew 9: 17  

As we get to know Jesus deeper through prayer, there are aspects of our lives that we may be called to purify to become more Christ-like. Sometimes our rigidity and resistance to change prevent us from truly accepting and recognizing the transformation we need to do from within. 

In today’s gospel, Jesus reminds us that genuine prayer will lead us to become a new creation, and we must welcome the total transformation of our lives, from inside and out, in order for us to become the best wine which will enrich others as well.

Mother Mary, teach us to welcome the newness our faith in Christ brings.
