John 19:31-37 Pierced but not brokenHave you experienced loving yet getting hurt in return? You are not alone, for Jesus experienced the same. Ever since, his heart had been radiating hope, mercy, faith, and compassion to the people he encountered. However, some of these people were the ones who pierced his heart when he was denied, persecuted, accused, and put to death.
To love is to risk getting pierced. And sometimes, experiences like this hold us back from loving again. Our hearts are hardened when we experience rejection from others. Yet, today, we are invited to continue loving and draw strength from the Sacred Heart of Jesus – to the heart that many times were pierced by our sins yet was never broken – so we can go to Him and He can fix our own brokenness. Sacred Heart of Jesus, make us courageous so we can risk to love like you. Amen. #PrayVD |
