Gospel: Mt 5:13-16
 
Your light must shine before others
 
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us of our place on earth -- we are not here to merely exist and satisfy our wants and needs. We are here for a higher purpose: to be the salt and light of the world.
 
To be both salt and light of the world, we should learn how to work with and for others -- the salt attains its best purpose when worked with other things and the light works best when it lets itself be used for others to be seen. In the same way, we are invited today to do just the same and live for the betterment of others too.
 
Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, help us understand the calling of our lives to become instruments to live interconnectedly with others as we seize every moment we have on earth. Amen.
