Daily Guidelines: March 8, 2019

March 8, 2019 – Friday
Gospel: Matthew 9:14-15

“When the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast.”

There is a time and a place for every purpose under heaven, so goes a classic song. A time to laugh, a time to weep. A time to feast, a time to fast. The disciples could not yet understand what Jesus’ passion and death meant and that is why they would mourn. In the perfect purpose and timing of God, they would understand and rejoice in due time. Regardless, there is always a need for fasting in our life, that we may know that God is ever faithful and that we may depend on Him whether it is time for feasting or fasting. Lord, we remember You today as we fast and abstain.
