Gospel: Luke 15:1–10
 
The value of what was lost
 
We would only know the value of something when it is lost. But maybe for us one lost sheep over ninety-nine is of no worth and a single coin has no great value. But this doesn’t hold true for the shepherd and the woman in today's parable.
 
By using these parables, Jesus shows us our true worth and value as individuals in the sight of God. For him we are not mere numbers but a “person” - unique and precious.
 
Today's Gospel is a reminder for us how important we really are for God. We are special and of supreme value in His eyes. God’s mercy does not sweep away the sinners and the lost from His presence.
