Daily Guidelines: October 21, 2018

October 21, 2018 – Sunday
Gospel: Mark 10:35-45

“For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

Giving his own self has always been in the heart of Jesus. His kingship is far different from today’s leadership of some authority which seeks applause, rewards, and self-interest – may it be in the family, school, workplace, and government.

More than this sad reality, the Gospel invites us to see God’s dream of having a world soaked in love for Him and for one another; and to hope that this dream can be turned into reality when we long to serve and not to be served all the time.

How can you serve someone? Today, let it start with you. Allow your service to continue the cycle of self-giving of Jesus.
