Gospel: Matthew 9:9–13
 
"For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners." (cf. Matthew 9:13)
 
Today's Gospel narrates to us the call of Matthew. As Jesus saw Matthew while walking by his custom post, Jesus called him to follow and immediately he got up and followed Jesus.
 
God's mercy for us is beyond compare that He overlooks our faults and failures. Despite our betrayals, hurtful attacks and unworthiness, He still chooses us. It is Him who made us worthy in our following.
 
Let us ask Mother Mary to help us to see the urgency of the call of Jesus and guide us in responding with a joyful heart. Amen
