Gospel: John 15:26–16:4a “I have said these things to you to keep you from stumbling.” (cf. John 16:1) Obstacles may be present in our journey of faith yet Jesus assures us today of the presence of Spirit of Truth in our faithful endeavors to help us not stumble. In today’s Gospel, Jesus warns His disciples of the persecution they would experience in doing His ministry. With this warning, He assured them that the Spirit of Truth will be with them to testify about Him and help them in doing so. In living and expressing the truth of our faith, we Christians were expected to experience criticisms and persecutions from the people who try to evade and distort it. Let us be assured that the Spirit of Truth is always with us to help and guide us in those times when we think that they are getting the better of us. #PrayVD

Gospel John 15:9-17 “My command to you is to love one another”. Jesus had taught us many things. This gospel explains one of his commandments, and that is to love one another. If we are going to follow His commandment, this world will be a better place. We will be happier and all of us are helping one another. If we are going to look at our situation, we sometimes neglect His commands. But there are also people who knows how to follow His words. They love others. There are also people who really needs help but we sometimes do not believe them because there are people who are also very greedy. If we know how to follow His commandments, we might live in a safer place. A world where you don’t need to be scared . A world where there is full of hope. #PrayVD

John 15:18-21 “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too” Sometimes we ask ourselves if we deserve what is happening in our lives. In spite the good deeds that we’ve done, people tend to fool, hurt and leave you. And even if you help people so much, they will still say something bad about you. This gospel explains that it is natural to experience this kind of judgement. Even Christ who is holy, many still did not believe in HIM. Still, he loved us for eternity. It doesn’t matter even if people will not see your goodness, but it is the Lord who will truly see it. #PrayVD

Gospel “John 15:12-17 “I call you friends” The Gospel shows how Christ humbled himself. We all know that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of the Lord.In spite of all this, he still treated us as his beloved people. He never forces us to do whatever HE wants. HE lets us decide for ourselves. Whatever happens, HE is still there to guide us. I am hoping that we also do the same thing as what HE did to us. Lord, I thank you for making us your beloved people. #PrayVD

Gospel John 15:9-11 “If you will keep my commandments you will remain in my love” The truth is, love is easier said than done. Just like our LOVE to the Lord, we often say that we believe and love HIM but do we follow HIS commandments? Most of the time, we feel guilty if we make a mistake. But if we learn and make things right this is a good way to show and prove our love to HIM. #PrayVD

Gospel John 15:11-8 “Abide in me and I in you” In today’s Gospel, we are reminded that if we are going to separate ourselves from HIM, we will be like a tree without prosperous fruits. Our only purpose is to be a firewood and vanish in the fire and if we are going to be with HIM, we will be priceless. Our lives will be unwavering if we will follow and spread the word of God. We should not let ourselves be fruitless. #PrayVD

Gospel 14:27-31 "Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid" We all know that we are affected by this pandemic. We even ask God how will it all end. Many of us are worried and scared for our future. Especially the poor, they don’t even know where to get the food that they will eat for their supper. It is not easy for us to relinquish our fears, but if we are going to be brave and believe in God, we can assure ourselves that we can surpass our hardships. #PrayVD

Gospel John 14:6-14 "Have I been with you all this time” Nowadays, many of us are experiencing poverty and losing hope. We all know that God is there, but we tend to look for Christ in times of need. In this Gospel, God is reminding us that HE is always with us and within us. We might not feel HIM sometimes because we are focusing on the negativities, but if we are going to broaden our mind and soul, we will see HIM in so many ways. Lord, we thank you for always being with us in times of need. Amen. #PrayVD

Jn 12:44-50 "I came into the world as light" Jesus came into the world as a light of life. The one that illuminates the darkest areas of our life. The one that will make our darkest sins and turn it into light. The one that will light our path when we are astray. Sometimes we find ourselves just in one place and cannot do anything especially this time of pandemic, we are restricted to go anywhere and do anything. It was like our life is experiencing brown out that we cannot see things thus cannot do anything. We cannot work, study, eat, etc. That is why Jesus came into us to be our light. Even in this pandemic, His light still shines for us. He gives light to us so that we can work, He lights our path so that we can go into places to proclaim God. We are invited to share Jesus, our light,to people who are still in darkness. #PrayVD

Jn 10:11-18 "I am the Good Shepherd" The gospel describes how marvelous God is by being the Good Shepherd. His voice makes the sheeps united as one flock. In this world of today where there are many divisions in terms of faith, political views, etc.; We are invited to open our hearts and listen to the voice of Jesus because He brings unity in us. Jesus the good shepherd will also defend us from many deaths. It could be death of hope, death of purpose in life and other death that we may experience in life. With Jesus there is no death anymore. Holy Spirit, grant us the grace to open our hearts to Jesus so that we may be able to follow our Good Shepherd. #PrayVD |
